Don Boll's Youngster

My Youngster project started the fall of 1998. I flew a friends Fisher 404 and had so much fun that I ordered my kit the same day. It was the last Youngster Mike Fisher sold, as he was in the process of selling the remaining small plane business to the GREAT folks at Edgely North Dakota.
I live in North Dakota and fly from my farm strip. The building of  the fuselage was done one winter in Arizona wile staying in a Retirement park and visiting our daughter. The next winter I build two wings in Arizona and finished the rest of the plane in my basement back in ND. I enjoyed building so much that I didn't rush any part of it. I had a 1946 Champ to fly so was not building so I could fly. I installed a 503 Rotax and a power fin prop. This combination works very well and the performance is wonderful. I only have 1.5 hours on the little plane as the weather has gotten very cold. The controls are more responsive then most ultralights. Take off and landings can keep one very busy but not dangerous.  I do not recommend this plane for a pilot with no experience in tail draggers. It is like a sports car on a mountain highway. A real rush. I will up date the flight report as weather permits. I have built a Fisher 303 , a Kolb Firestar and have started a Sonex, I guess I will always have a plane in the shop.
