Karl Rosenkranz's Horizon 2
Going north to Alaska, we find Karl Rosenkranz and his extensively modified Horizon 2. Karl bought a partial kit and scratch built the rest of his plane. The last time this plane was weighed, it came in at 775 lbs. Powered by a Continental C85/12 with a 72" Warp drive carbon fiber propeller. Karl estimated his building time at 3000 hrs. Karl was 62 years young this past March. After the initial 40 hours were flown off this plane by a friend, Karl received his dual instruction and ultimately soloed in N8010Q. As of March 29, 1999, Karl reports a total of 192 hours flown on his plane. In summary Karl states. " I have produced a very controllable bush plane with good flying characteristics. I would call it a 1+ meaning pilot and passenger and 29.5 gallons of fuel or pilot and lots of cargo. All this for 4.5 gallons of car gas per hour at 90 mph."
Karl has an email address at senkranz@ptialaska.net. He is located in Seward, Alaska.
