Ron and Jerry Haines' Horizon 1

  Ron and Jerry Haines have completed this good looking Horizon 1 outside of Winfield, PA.  After buying the plans in April of 1995, the airplane was signed off by the FAA on January 28, 1999.  The finished weight came out to 490 lbs. thus becoming one of the lightest airplanes reported back on the survey.  This airplane is powered with a 70 hp VW and spins an Airmaster prop.

  Ron and Jerry report that the landing gear needed to be modified as it would not hold up on taxi tests at their grass strip runway (Danville Airport).  They are going to a 4130 steel gear.
